Barry & Barbara started BBQing for a yearly BBQ at their church in 1988. Immediately people began requesting more and more BBQ. In 1989, Barry BBQed for a restaurant in Fyffe as well as another restaurant in Rainsville. In 1993, Barry and Barbara opened a small carry out in their back yard.

On Palm Sunday in the year 1994 a Tornado destroyed their home, their poultry houses, and their BBQ pit. Barry and Barbara rebuilt and reopened on Labor Day of the same year. This time they had seating for 44 people, and in 1999 they expanded their restaurant to hold 90 people. In 2000, Barry and Barbara added a buffet to their restaurant.

Currently Barry and Barbara cook approximately 2500 - 3500 lbs. of meat on a weekly basis. Their business has grown to support both wholesale and retail business.

Barry's Bar B Q was voted best in Dekalb County in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. Barry was also voted best cook in Dekalb County in 1998.
